Sweet 16

We have a 16 years old girl. The bizarre part is I can't add the usual 2 words "at home". She's sailing back from Cyprus at the time I'm writing this blog.
The world opens up when children grow. The beginning is going alone to a friend or a place, later on it's staying alone (with the dog) at home, now we reach the part where driving is almost possible.
Suddenly a vehicle is not only for the grown-up, it's for the kids too. Though we'll have to figure out how to do it.
Work is also not only for the grown-up, it began with Ella deciding she wants a job, and Shavit joining too. So now we have 2 working kids, with their own bank accounts and 2 worried parents who monitor it.
Other than work, school and friends Ella is also volunteering at MADA, the Israeli red cross. Due to the Jewish nature of Israel cross is not considered a good idea, so the local branch of red cross became red David's shield, in Hebrew got the initials MADA. Ella did the basic course and started volunteering there, plus she met some nice people there too. She also got to some weird situations because she's there. The funniest one was when I took her and a friend after a shift they had to Shirley's folks. The 2 kids ran into the elderly community center running towards Shirley's folks apartment while I tried not to laugh at the clerk's expression. He almost fainted before I got to explain they're not a call, it's just Ella and friend visiting Ella's grands after a shift they had.

The publishing of this blog was delayed due to request from the organizer of the trip to Cyprus.
