Today is Ella's birthday. A 6 years old girl is one of the strangest phenomenon of the Israeli culture. She woke up early just to shower and dress, note the clothes are new. After the preliminary activities she wanted to move to the main course - dressing the cake.
Cakes are Shirley's domain! The only touch I have regarding them is pour this whareverunidentifiedgoo into the stove, and take this goodsmellingcake out of the stove. When it ain't too heavy, I get only the eating job.
Thus we headed to the kindergarten summer school, Ella in the lead with the cake, Shavit with the plates and cutlery for eating the cake, and me with Ella's backpack. Of course everyone knows its her birthday, she made sure they'll know, remember, and carve it in stone for the last month or so. Forgetting her birthday is a capital offense. Later that day we had fish meal with a small heart shaped cake for the family (excluding Mocca - our new dog) in order to celebrate the event.
On the following day Ella asked for biscuits (not real cookies) because the kids from the kindergarten next to her couldn't share the cake. Only when Shirley took her back she got the complete event details, the celebration took place in the morning, the kids joining in the afternoon weren't part of the previous day party.
The main celebration took place on Saturday. A family gathering on our balcony with meat, fish and some other things. The pitas were late... by the end of the day we had 2 very tired and happy children drifting to sleep.
