It's time for the annual english blog for Ella. It's her 2nd birthday after all.
About a year ago, we celebrated her 1st birthday. It was a minor celebration, Ella didn't really understand what the party was about, Shirley felt like an elephant (or a whale according to her) carrying the unborn Shavit. All in all, it was a party, but it lacked the sparkle to make it shine.
This year, Ella's 2nd birthday, things changed. The most important thing is: "she knows her age." Meaning, she knows what to answer when asked about her age. I wouldn't bet on "deeper knowledge", yet it's fun to ask her.
We decided to do a "barbecue birthday party" in a nearby wood. Us (her parents and brother), the grandparents and the aunts & uncles. The most important family members, at least for her. It turned out to be a good idea, she was overflowed as it was. Adding more people would had made her overly active.
We got to the place right "on the morning breath". At 10:00 plus the time it took to change Shavit's diaper. Ella made me change her bed sheets, and had Shirley change her 3 times due to "misses". Since the grandparents were already there, Ella ran to them in no time. Shavit just made sure he'll get the "grands' time" too.
Once the other pair of grandparents arrived, both kids were over the moon excited. The aunts & uncles came a short while later, with the same results.
When it comes to the aunts & uncles, Ella knows the names, up to a certain degree. She shouted the names at the top of her lungs, trying hard to draw attention. When it comes down to Ella & Attention, a pair of eyes and a pair of ears is not enough, triplets are needed.
As could be expected, running around in the "wild" had its toll on everyone, and after a huge lunch (food for 50 humans instead of 10), AND birthday cake, AND watermelon. We decided to give the corn up, by sending it back home.
At the early afternoon we went back home, the kids were dead-tired. Our stomachs were stuffed to a new degree. It was a good celebration.
Next time it's Shavit's turn.
